Challenges have begun...

So...things can always be worse but right now I'm frustrated with Daniel for going too fast on a dirt road. He had the car to drive to the college yesterday as his brother was working and I didn't want to come and pick him up. He decided to go to a friends house (didn't call to let me know) and finally came home around 10:30 last night. After he got home he let us know that he was going a little fast on a dirt road and ended up losing control and ran into a pinon pine tree. He said there wasn't much damage to the car and it wasn't that bad. He was pretty shaken up and said that the light covering was damaged just a little and shouldn't be too bad to replace. I was so upset with him as he is such a new driver and what was he thinking not going slow on a dirt road, especially with him being a new driver and all. He said he knows and is so apologetic about this. He feels so bad and I told him that I was angry and would get over it but for now I was angry. I worked so hard last night on getting over it and was lying down and realized that he is more important than any car and it could be worse, he could've rolled it or hit someone else or some such thing. So crazy!!! I was so upset and still am...especially after I saw the damage on the car...it was a bit more than he said it was...the light cover is almost all gone and the scratches on the side and the window are a lot. It could have been worse but darn...it shouldn't have happened at all. I told Daniel that I understand it was an accident and those happen with even veteran drivers, but darn it...it upset me that he did it anyway. He feels so bad and realizes that it's a good lesson learned and he will be more careful. I had to stop being upset and give him some comfort as he was having such a hard time.

I know that he will be tested as he gets ready to go to the temple and leave on his mission so I'll have to pray extra hard that we all can get through this. I'm so grateful that he is going on his mission and we get to have these experiences! :)

By the way...Daniel will be going to the temple June 6th and I am so excited that I get to be there with all of my children! What a blessing!!!

I'm glad to hear he is "ok" never the less I hate to say it we all have "Stupid"moments that we have to learn from.

I remember back in high school it was I believe my second year of driving. It was snowing or at least there was snow on the ground/road. I was coming out of guard practice and I was going down this road. Usually the speed limit is 25 and I know I was probably going about 30-35 in the stretches. Going down this hill towards the freeway I came around that bend a little too fast and hit ice. It drifted me into a huge pile of snow and thankfully stopped my car. No damage what so ever to my car but it really shook me up to realize that I was going too fast for that road since I wasn't very famuliar to it.

That aside....I'm really sorry your car has so much damage. I am surprised to hear Daniel did this...he didn't seem like that type of person. As angry as you may be realize that he is by far more upset than you are right now. Mainly because he knows he did wrong and can actually see what he did. Though I'm not saying you shouldn't be angry as by far I would be too....expecially if its my car involved!

HUGS Lady Jane!! I miss you so much!

I understand, as many parents do. Kids have to learn through experience. Just the same as us. I have to remind myself all the time :) An exciting time for your family. I always am grateful to have a missionary!
